Frosh/Soph Flashback 2011
Our fourth and final Elite 75 – Frosh/Soph flashback looks back to last fall’s event, which once again hosted the top underclassmen the New England region has to offer.
In the year since the event has taken place a number of big men have established themselves as high-major prospects in New England’s 2015 class – and they were all in attendance at the 2011 Elite 75 – Frosh/Soph as Jarred Reuter, Djery Baptiste, and Aaron Falzon all starred during the freshman session and Josh Sharma had a breakout performance during the sophomore session, prior to reclassifying at Northfield Mount Hermon School.
Bruce Brown was another freshman to have a breakout performance at last year’s event and twelve months later he has distinguished himself as one of the region’s premier swingmen. Other breakout performances in last year’s freshman division included the likes of Brandon Aughburns, Roy Kane, Chancellor Ellis, Devin Marsh and a variety of others.
When it came to guards in the freshman division, Jonathan Joseph stood out as the purest point guard in the field, and a year later he has emerged as probably the purest point guard in the class of 2015. Other guards who stood out that day and have since solidified their spot in the class include Ian Sistare, Greg Bridges, Daquon Ervin, and others.
If the freshmen division was filled with talent than the sophomore group was absolutely loaded. It began with two of the region’s top prospects in Noah Vonleh and Jared Terrell, both of whom put on dunking exhibitions throughout the day and have gone on to be highly pursued national prospects.
But those two stars were really just the tip of the iceberg as other established stars like Matt Cimino, Jacquil Taylor, Kahari Beaufort, Jared Wilson-Frame, and Jeff Spellman all shined.
When it came to breakout performances, the sophomore showcase was a sign of things to come in the 2012 July evaluation period as Paschal Chukwu and Jalen Adams showed the ability that allowed them to push their respective recruitments to the highest levels this summer.
The 5th annual Elite 75 Showcase – Frosh/Soph Edition will take place next Saturday on September 15th. Only a few limited spots remain available in the field. Contact [email protected] if interested.
