Darien Fernandez 2013

Former Wareham High School and BABC product, Darien Fernandez, committed to Jacksonville on Thursday according to BABC founder and head coach Leo Papile.

Fernandez has spent the last two seasons in the state of Wyoming, starring for Laramie County Community College. He averaged over 10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 and a half steals per game last year as a freshmen but has upped those totals to over 16 points and nearly 5 assists per game this year as a sophomore while shooting 43% from the three-point line. He is also averaging over 3 steals per game, good enough for fourth overall in the national junior college ranks.

Laramie is currently 21-9 and set to begin their conference tournament this weekend.

The five-foot-eight guard will have two seasons of eligibility at Jacksonville and will be eligible right away next season.
