Expressions, BABC Heading to Peach Jam
The EYBL regular season wrapped up last weekend at session IV in Minneapolis, and after each of the 40 Nike sponsored teams in the country had completed their 18th game of the season, 24 teams were left standing, having earned invitations to the EYBL Finals at the Nike Peach Jam.
Both of New England’s Nike sponsored programs were among those 24, as Expressions Elite earned an automatic bid after finishing with a record of 13-5, good enough for third place in Division C, while BABC earned one of four wildcard bids to the Peach Jam with an overall record of 11-7 on the season.
Expressions made a big splash in their first EYBL season, going undefeated through their first 8 games. Here’s a look at an episode of “The Circuit”, Nike’s official YouTube channel, which focused on Expressions debut at session I in Los Angeles.
BABC opened the EYBL season with a strong start of their own, and by the time the much anticipated match-up with Expressions came around at the start of section IV, there was much more than pride on the line, as both teams were competing for a spot in the Peach Jam. “The Circuit” documented this game in what they dubbed “The Battle for Boston”.
Expressions was led by Abdul-Malik Abu and Jared Terrell on the season, both of whom averaged over 14 points per game, while Jared Wilson-Frame and Aaron Falzon were just under double figures as well. BABC was led by Bonzie Colson and his 18 points per game while Tyler Nelson averaged 12.
Now, both teams are heading for the Peach Jam, held during the first week of the July Live period, and the opportunity to call themselves Nike’s national champion.
