Elite Sports Adidas Phenom Showcase - Event Recap

New Haven, CT - Elite Sports and Jay Riccitelli held their annual fall adidas Phenom Showcase on Saturday night.
The event was headlined by Kuran Iverson, Kahari Beaufort, Luciano Martinez, Billy McDonald, Austin Carter, and more.

Kuran Iverson - Northwest Catholic 2013 – was the top player in the Field House, demonstrating skilled ball-handling and incredible offensive skills.  Iverson blew by defenders and finished at the basket or pulled up and hit the perimeter shot.

Kahari Beaufort – East Hartford HS 2014 – was the top underclassmen prospect with both tremendous skill and athleticism.  At times he toyed with defenders by putting the ball on the floor to create space and get a shot off or just blow by defenders and finish at the basket; often above the rim.

Luciano Martinez – University High School 2012 – looked like the one of the top 5 players in the Field House throughout the course of the 3 games.  Martinez did a little of everything on offense and defense.  He hit the perimeter shot consistently, blew by defenders finishing with contact at the rim, and dished to teammates for countless assists.  Note: Martinez who played on Iverson’s team went 3-0 in the Showcase.

Austin Carter – Master’s Prep School 2013 – looked very tough playing at a high tempo attacking the rim and putting down 4 explosive dunks that caught the attention of coaches, players, and fans in the Field House.  Carter finished around the basket with easy and did not seem to be challenged.

Billy McDonald – West Haven High School 2012 – showed off athleticism around the basket finishing above the rim.  He handled the ball well from the wing and hit a few perimeter shots.  Note: McDonald attended the showcase late coming from a visit at Le Moyne in Syracuse, NY.

Others Who Impressed

Tyrell Henderson – University High School 2012 – fast athletic point guard that shot the ball well and finished around the hoop.  This speed and quickness on defense frustrated guards that could not penetrate.

DeWayne Wynn – Capital Prep 2012 – small forward that finishes strong in the paint and plays defense with a high motor.

Devon Marsh – Masters’s Prep 2015 – long 6’6 wing / SF that slashes to the basket well and finishes around the hoop.  Marsh altered shots in the paint and rebounded the ball well.

Phil Moriber – Barlow HS 2013 – was explosive slashing to the basket and finishing around the hoop.  A very athletic guard with tremendous up side.

Romeo Bouie - Racine Horlick High School (WI) 2015 – was one of the most talented players in the Field House even though he is a freshman.  Bouie handles the ball well, slashes to the hoop, and is aggressive to the rack finishing above the rim.  He dominated his grade and played up with the HS players on Saturday night where he fit in as one of the top performers.

Play of the Night

Two handed ally up dunk by Austin Carter that rocked the entire Field House!
