Desrosiers Earns MVP with Canadian National Team
Jerome Desrosiers will represent Canada later this week at the FIBA U17 World Championships in Dubai.
Like many of the national programs participating in the World Championships, the Canadian team is partaking in a number of tune-up events to help them prepare.
The Canadians began last week at an exhibition tournament in France. They went a perfect 4-0 with wins over France (81-78), Puerto Rico (79-62), Australia (88-85), and Argentina (88-85) while Desrosiers was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
The team also consists of a variety of high-major prospects including CIA Bounce guard Jamal Murray, City Rocks point guard Howard Washington, and incoming LaLumiere forward Nolan Narain.
Canada and France will meet again on Friday in the preliminary round of the World Championships. Canada is also scheduled to take on Japan and Dubai in the preliminary rounds.
Team USA opens preliminary action against Greece while their 12 man roster includes Northeast Hoops Festival alum Tyus Battle along with Ivan Rabb, Diamond Stone, Malik Newman, Henry Ellenson, Terrance Ferguson, Harry Giles, Josh Jackson, V.J. King, Devearl Ramsey, Caleb Swanigan, and Jayson Tatum.
