CT Elite Wins Northeast Hoops Festival u14 Crown

Connecticut Elite utilized their size advantage to score a convincing win over the New England Playaz last Sunday in the championship of the Northeast Hoops Festival fourteen-and-under bracket.

Jaelin K was the dominat player in the game, putting his size and upper body strength to work and going for 19 points and numerous rebounds.

Rashoon Boyd, another big man, also chipped in with 13 points.  In addition to the points, Boyd was also a terrific rebounder who was able to spark the fast-break with a couple of pinpoint outlet passes.

“J.V.” also chipped in with 11 points as the team’s third leading scorer.

In the backcourt, Elite got consistent production from a number of sources.  Jonathan Dzurenda and Curtis Torres, two facilitators from the point guard position, were both effective in the championship game.  Both lead guards distributed the ball well and finished with 9 points each as Torres gave a nice spark off the bench and Dzurenda stood out as perhaps the team’s most versatile all around player.

Justin McLendon was another guard who made his impact felt in a wide array of ways as he does a little bit of everything for this team while Harold Hooper stood out as a high energy player and one of the team’s best on-the-ball defenders.

Shane Miller gives the coaching staff a shooter to come off the bench who can take advantage of sagging defenses while Ian Gardner is a great one-on-one offensive player who scored 8 points slashing his way to the rim.

Johnnie Vassar led the way for the Playaz with a game high 25 points and numerous assists while Idris Taqqee stepped up with 12 points.
