Crotty Memorial Game Set for Friday
The 3rd Annual Crotty Memorial Game will be played Friday, June 1st, at 7:30pm at Cousens Gym on the campus of Tufts University and kick-off the 40th annual Boston Shootout. The Middlesex Magic will face the Mass Rivals in a game that will serve as a rematch of the double overtime thriller that these two programs played in the initial Crotty Memorial Game in 2010.
The game is played in honor of Mike Crotty Sr. The founder and Director of the Middlesex Magic AAU Basketball Program who guided and helped shape the lives of countless student-athletes over the past three decades. It was through basketball that Coach Crotty Sr. found his passion, and one of his greatest joys was seeing his players go on to achieve academic and athletic success. Coach Crotty helped guide hundreds of high school students to college, and built one of the most respected AAU basketball programs in the country. Academics always came before athletics for Coach Crotty Sr., and his son, and former Middlesex Magic player Michael Crotty Jr., has led the program with the same principles and helped guide over 25 student-athletes to college in the past two years.
The game is open to the public, and we hope to have as many current/former players, parents, opponents, family, friends, and all others as we look forward to a tremendous evening of basketball to celebrate a ONE-OF-A-KIND man!
