Colson Taking Unofficials

St. Andrew’s rising senior forward Bonzie Colson took unofficial visits to Rhode Island and Connecticut earlier this week

Colson, a six-foot-five forward, has seen his recruitment take off this spring after a tremendous regular season on the EYBL circuit.  He led BABC with 18 points per game while shooting over 60% from the floor.

He now holds offers from Florida State, Iowa State, Notre Dame, and Seton Hall among others, while generating interest from a variety of other high-major programs.

Colson’s father, Bonzie Colson Sr., starred at URI in the late 80’s and early 90’s and was the center on their Sweet 16 team.

Following his visit to UConn on Monday, Colson spoke David Borges of the New Haven Register.

"I definitely did (enjoy it), the campus is nice," Colson told Borges. "They know I'm an under-sized four, there's not really a right position for me. They said they'd make plays for me and I'll adapt to their offense pretty well, because they'll play four out, one in."

Colson won Gatorade Player of the Year honors in Rhode Island this season after averaging nearly 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 blocks per game.

He was also selected to participate in the Kevin Durant Skills Academy later this month.
