Coaching Legends Coming to NE Clinic
On Sunday, April 28th four of the worlds best basketball coaches will come to Suffield Academy for the First Annual New England Coaches Clinic.
Naismith Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley Sr. of St. Anthony High School in New Jersey, USA Developmental National Team coach Don Showalter of Iowa City High School in Iowa, 2013 National Championship coach Dave Hixon of Amherst College, and 5-Time National Team coach and International Expert Terry Layton of Nike will be teaching throughout the day.
Clinic director Jeff Depelteau explained, “I’m very excited we were able to put together such an amazing group of coaches for the clinic. This group has won thousands of games, and championships at the State, National, and International level. The quality just doesn’t get better than these four coaches. More important than the wins and the championships, these coaches are amazing teachers of the game. Their teams play the right way and this is a direct correlation to the example these coaches set for them.”
Bob Hurley Sr. will be teaching how to build a team defense. Don Showalter will be teaching ball screen offense. Dave Hixon will be teaching four-out motion offense. Terry Layton will be teaching how to bring the international game to your team.
There will be a college team on the court doing demonstrations throughout the day. In addition coaches will be showing some of their favorite drills and have a question and answer session.
Pre-registration for the clinic will cost $70 for individual coaches, or $60 per coach for staffs of three or more. Registration at the door will be $85. Pre-registration for the event can be found at http://2013newenglandcoachesclinic.eventbrite.com.
