Chris Herren joins The Upside Podcast
Chris Herren joined The Upside Podcast earlier this week to discuss the effects of the coronavirus and current social distancing on those battling addiction and struggling with mental health.
As many New Englanders know, Herren starred at Durfee High School before going on to be a McDonald's All-American and committing to Boston College over the likes of Duke and Kentucky. His career ultimately also brought him to Fresno State, the Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics, and numerous professional stops abroad.
Herren's consistent struggles with addiction, throughout his playing career and up until 2008 have been the subject of his now famous Herren Talks. Since 2008, he's now helped over 10,000 people into treatment through Herren Talks, Herren Wellness, and Herren Project.
Herren was the just the latest recent guest in a series that has brought new weekly content throughout the pandemic. Other recent guests include ESPN's national director of recruiting Paul Biancardi, SCSU head coach and former Chicago Bull Scott Burrell who spoke about his time on the 1998 NBA championship alongside Michael Jordan, sports psychologist Dr. Joe Carr, Penn State head coach Pat Chambers, and Utah Jazz forward Georges Niang.
