Buie Big Ten Bound
Gould Academy guard Boo Buie made a verbal commitment to Northwestern on Friday night while on their campus for his official visit.
Northwestern became the first high-major program to offer Buie a scholarship this summer after Buie was instrumental in the Mass Rivals' run to the finals of the Adidas Summer Championships in Los Angeles and followed that up with another strong showing at the Prime Event in Orlando.
The upstate New York native arrived in New England last year with a steady diet of low to mid-major recruitment but has shown tremendous growth over the course of the last thirteen months. His recruitment grew alongside as he became a priority Atlantic 10 caliber recruit before landing the Northwestern offer.
Now, Buie isn’t just headed to the Big Ten Conference but also one of the premier academic institutions in the country.
Buie is a scoring lead guard with good size and outstanding natural touch. He’s a vastly improved shooter and an instinctive playmaker who can now pose a scoring threat at all three levels.
Northwestern has made the New England region a priority in recent years under Chris Collins and projects to have as many as five alums of local prep programs on next year’s roster with Buie joining NMH alums Aaron Falzon and Ryan Greer along with New Hampton alums Aaron Falzon and Anthony Gaines.
Below are some of Buie’s summer highlights with the Rivals:
