Bridgton’s Aimaq Makes Pick
Bridgton Academy post-graduate center Fardaws Aimaq announced his commitment to Mercer University on Friday.
A Canadian native in his first year in the New England prep ranks, Aimaq earned first team All New England honors in Class AAA of the NEPSAC this season while anchoring the middle of the line-up for the Wolverines.
While he had division I offers already to his name upon his arrival, the 6-foot-10 big man took his game to new levels this season by improving his conditioning, thus allowing him to better capitalize on his unique combination of size and skill. He has great hands and touch, not just around the rim but also to the three-point line, and is also an excellent passer as well.
"Daws was heavily courted at a variety of D1 levels and most recently saw his stock rise further but ultimately stuck with a program that had demonstrated a relentless commitment to him," Bridgton Academy head coach Whit Lesure said.
He chose Mercer over a series of other division I offers including Radford, Pepperdine, and San Jose State among others.
Below are some of his season highlights.
