Brantley Commits to Maryland

Former BABC and Notre Dame Prep product Jaylen Brantley made a verbal commitment to the University of Maryland on Monday after visiting over the weekend.

Brantley is currently at Odessa Junior College in Texas and will have three seasons of eligibility with the Terps beginning in September of 2015 after being ruled a partial qualifier during his freshmen season at Marshall.

A Springfield, Massachusetts native, Brantley was well known as one of the best point guards and shooters in New England. He ran the show for one of the best AAU teams to come through New England in recent memory. Along with the likes of Nerlens Noel, Georges Niang, Wayne Selden, and others BABC captured the 2010 and 2011 AAU National Championships as well as the 2011 Nike EYBL championship.

Maryland has recruited the New England region well in recent years and already have Jake Layman and Evan Smotrycz, who transferred from Michigan on their 2014-2015 roster.
