Banton Signs with Western Kentucky in 2018

Last week Dalano Banton transferred from the MacDuffie School to Redemption Christian Academy with the intent to graduate this spring after having been previously listed in the class of 2019 since his arrival from Canada last fall.

Less than seven days later he not only announced his verbal commitment to Western Kentucky but also signed a National Letter of Intent.

“We are getting a very talented young man that has a great understanding for how to play,” WKU head coach Rick Stansbury said in a news release. “He’s got great size and length for a perimeter player, but also has a great feel for how to score and how to facilitate. There’s no question he has a great future ahead of him, and we’re excited to have him as part of our program.”

Banton was previously a top five prospect in New England's 2019 class with high-major recruitment thanks to his combination of perimeter size and playmaking ability with the ball in his hands.

While his long-term upside remains unchanged, he may not be as immediately ready to play as he would have been with an additional year and so he currently checks in as the 18th ranked prospect in New England's class of 2018.

Below are some of his highlights from last season at MacDuffie care of Sonny Bairos on YouTube.
