BABC Looks to Defend Shootout Title

BABC Juniors will look to defend their 2013 BOSTON SHOOTOUT Championship at the 42nd Annual event this weekend (June 7th & 8th) at Cathedral HS in the historic South End of Boston.

The BABC team is coming off winning the Gold Medal in the 2014 NEAAU 11th grade Division 1 District Championship last weekend. (Note BABC Freshman + Sophomore Teams also won NEAAU Division 1 District Gold Medals giving the program 94 total since NEAAU basketball began competition in 1980).

On Memorial Day weekend the BABC Juniors qualified for their 5th consecutive NIKE EYBL Finals at the PEACH JAM on July 17th - 20th in North Augusta, South Carolina (BABC was in the final eight in 2010 led by 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year Mike Carter-Williams and won the titke in 2011 led by 2013 NBA lottery pick Nerlens Noel). BABC was the top defensive team over the sixteen game EYBL season allowing only 53 PPG (with a 30 second shot clock).

BABC juniors feature an array of future NCAA Division 1 players. The lineup includes 6-10 Jeremy Miller (Milton/New Hampton School"15), 6-6 Bobby Martin Jr (Waltham/Tilton School'16), 6-6 Terance Mann (Boston/Tilton School'15),6-4 Bruce Brown (Boston/Vermont Academy'16), 5-10 Aahmanie Santos (Boston/Catholic Memorial'15), 6-4 Tyree Robinson (Fall River/Durfee'15), 6-1 Tommy Mobley (Newton North'15), 5-10 Celio Arajou (Boston/Masters School), 6-10 Terrell Brown (E.Providence/St Andrew'16).

BABC began hosting the Boston Shootout in 1999, continuing the June tradition began in 1972 by the Boys Clubs of Boston. The 11th grade division features eight clubs from the Northeast and the Freshman Division has six teams. To see the full schedule go to thebabc.com.
