BABC Goes Undefeated at EYBL #1

The Boston Amateur Basketball Club was the talk of the town this weekend at session I of Nike's Elite Youth Basketball League, earning a variety of national headlines in the process.

While Nerlens Noel and Wayne Selden both played to rave reviews, the key to BABC's success continues to be their defense.  Holding opposing teams to just .403 shooting from the floor, BABC led the league in scoring defense by holding opponents to just 51.7 points per game while also finishing first overall in rebound defense and sixth in blocked shots.

They opened the weekend with a 61-40 win over Alabama Challenge as Noel led the way with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

Saturday began with a 86-68 win over CIA Bounce that saw a variety of different players get going in the scoring column.  Jaylen Brantley scored a team high 33 points on 8-10 shooting from the floor while Georges Niang had 14, Rene Castro 13, and Jake Layman 11.

Next up came a 61-47 win over the Georgia Stars that saw Andrew Chrabascz lead the way with 18 points and 7 rebounds while Rene Castro had 12 points and 6 assists and Brantley added 11.

Following a win over the Southern Kings to start the day on Sunday, BABC capped their perfect 5-0 weekend with a 54-35 win over the Arkansas Wings.  Niang led the team in scoring this time with 18 points and 5 rebounds on 9-9 shooting from the floor while Brantley added 11 including three three-pointers.

Selden led the way for the u15 squad as they made a run to the tournament finals before losing on a last second buzzer beater.
