BABC announces Select Tour & annual award

The Boston Amateur Basketball Club will recognize Quincy native and longtime local coach "Bo" Ruggiero. The North Quincy High School and Boston University alum is the fourth recipient of the award following Dee Rowe in 2014, George "Trigger" Burke in 2015, and Joe Amorosino in 2016. A reception will be held at Alba Restaurant in Quincy on Sunday, March 12th at 4pm. Anyone wishing to attend may email babc@me.com to reserve a ticket.   

This award is held in conjunction with the annual BABC Select tour as BABC's 10th and 11th grade teams will travel throughout Massachusetts to take on some of the top players in each region of the state. The tour begins at Worcester Academy on Marh 15th for a scheduled 6pm tip as the BABC sophomores will take on Central Select Juniors and BABC juniors will take on Mass Select Seniors. A day later on March 16th, the 17th annual Fitzy-Nolan Games will pit BABC against the South Select squad with the double-header beginning at 6:30pm. The tour will travel to the Springfield area on March 17th (site and time TBA) and conclude at Cathedral High School in Boston against North Select on March 19th.  

BABC is beginning their 40th season this spring and has won a total of 19 National Championships in various competitions, including consecutive AAU 10th grade gold medals in 2015 and 2016, while sending over 250 alumni on to play NCAA division I basketball and 19 to the NBA. BABC has 26 active alumni currently playing college basketball and 7 on NBA rosters. BABC is also a charter member of the Nike EYBL and remains the only program to qualify for the EYBL Finals at the Peach Jam in every season since the league's inception in 2010.
