Atson Headed to the American

New England Recruiting Report | Monday, September 21st, 2015

Notre Dame Prep swingman Travis Atson made a verbal commitment to Tulsa yesterday while on their campus for an official visit.

While he had earned a variety of scholarship offers in recent years, he committed to Tulsa over DePaul & UC-Santa Barbara, sending him to the American Athletic Conference which also includes the likes of UConn, Cincinnati, Temple and others.

A New York native who previously starred at Christ the King High School before transferring to South Kent last year, Atson announced his arrival on the prep scene in a big way at the 2014 National Prep Showcase when he exploded for two huge performances and became a YouTube sensation virtually over night.

Atson returned to the PSA Cardinals, formerly Team Scan, for his final season on the grassroots circuit, teaming with a number of other New England prep products and playing a big part in their run to the quarterfinals of the EYBL Finals at the Nike Peach Jam.

A high volume scorere who is capable of putting the ball in the basket in bunches, Atson opted to head to Notre Dame Prep for his final season of eligibility, in which he is expected to be one of the primary weapons for head coach Ryan Hurd and the Crusaders.

Atson wasn't the only Notre Dame Prep product in Tulsa this weekend as Kimmie English, who starred for Hurd before moving on to Missouri, is currently a member of Frank Haith's staff.
