AOF Guard Heading Back West

Isaiah Nichols 2016

Avon Old Farms guard Isaiah Nichols came across the country to do a post-graduate year in the NEPSAC in hopes of proving himself a division I player.

That mission was officially accomplished this weekend when he committed to, and signed with, San Jose State, a Division I school in Nichol's home state of California which competes in the Mountain West Conference.

A highly versatile 6-foot-5 player who transitioned into a full-time guard during his post-graduate  year while also dramatically improving his outside shooting, he now projects as a potential big point guard at the next level but also someone capable of playing all three perimeter positions.

His sole season in New England wasn't just a success from an individual standpoint. He was also one of the leaders for an Avon Old Farms team that won the Founders League Championship and returned to the NEPSAC Class A play-offs.

Nichols earned offers from both San Jose State and Central Connecticut State University this spring, visiting both campuses before ultimately making his decision this weekend.
