Allen Opts Out

New England Recruiting Report | Saturday, March 25th, 2017

For the second time in as many weeks, one of the best players in New England has asked for a release from his National Letter of Intent.

Brewster Academy guard Thomas Allen, who signed with his hometown school N.C. State in November, requested his release on Thursday after meeting with new head coach Kevin Keatts.

Keatts was recently named the program's new head coach following the firing of Mark Gottfreid, who was the coach whom Allen had originally committed to.

Allen is coming off a tremendous season in the New England prep ranks in which he was named AAA Player of the Year while leading Brewster Academy to a perfect undefeated season which included both the NEPSAC and National Prep Championships.

The North Carolina native is expected to be heavily recruited now that he is back on the market, especially for teams looking to upgrade their perimeter shooting.

New England now has four of the top 20 ranked players in the class of 2017 still available as Allen joins Tremont Waters, who de-committed from Georgetown last week, Chris Duarte, and Alexis Yetna.
