The 6-foot-6 forward arrived at South Kent last year as a reclassified junior and quickly emerged into a key player for the Cardinals. A versatile scorer who was best known for his ablity to drive the basketball and get to the free-throw line, he gradually became a more consistent shooting threat from the perimeter, began to assert himself on the glass, and showed the versatility to play multiple positions.
It was more of the same this spring and summer as he was a consistent standout for Castle as they competed on the Adidas Gauntlet.
Albany head coach Will Brown and his staff made de Sousa a priority early and recruited him hard throughout the summer. His commitment comes less than a week before the opening of the fall recruiting period, and is a significant score for Albany as he should be capable of playing immediate minutes and scoring the ball consistently from day one.
De Sousa follows York Ballers guard Antonio Rizzuto to give the Great Danes an early dynamic duo in their 2018 recruiting class.
