Adrian Gonzalez Staying Close to Home

Adrian Gonzalez is heading to Bentley College.  The choice is a great one for Gonzales as he will be receiving a first class education, have a chance to play his college basketball in front of family and friends, and also have an opportunity to play some immediate minutes.

Gonzalez’ commitment is also an important addition for the Falcons as they land a talented local product.  The 6’5” forward is extremely athletic and strong.  He puts points on the board in a hurry with his ability to attack the rim off the dribble and crash the offensive glass for second chance points.  He is also a versatile talent who can play either forward position thanks to his combination of size, quickness, and athleticism.

Gonzales couldn’t be joining Bentley at a better time as they are coming off of one of the most successful seasons in school history in which they won the NE-10 Conference and advanced to the Elite 8 of the Division II NCAA Tournament.  The Falcons have opened the 2007-2008 season with similarly impressive results having posted a 3-0 record out of the gate with an average margin of victory of 24 points per game.

Local fans will be happy to know that Bentley’s success has come with a team full of New England products.  In fact 12 of the 15 player’s on this year’s roster played there high school or prep school basketball in the region, including freshmen Joe Fremeau (Manchester Central High School/Tilton School) and Brian and Matt Tracey (Kimball Union Academy).

By adding Gonzalez to the mix it is obvious that Bentley will continue to attract some of top local talents to Waltham as they look to solidify their place among the nation’s best in division II basketball.
