Adidas Phenom Camps Coming to New England
In only a few short years Adidas Phenom Camps have popped up all around the country in one of the quickest growing trends in grassroots basketball…early exposure camps. This year they will be coming to New England in a big way. 6 Camps have already been scheduled in Connecticut and Rhode Island while another camp will take place this fall in Massachusetts. While players from any state are welcome to attend any of the camps, a player hoping to qualify for the Adidas Phenom All-American Camp must attend their home state’s regional camp.
The New England Regional Adidas Phenom Basketball Camps are open registration, not invite only. The camps provide young players with an opportunity to measure their skills against the best players in the region while trying to earn an invitation to the National Adidas Phenom All-American Camp in San Diego, California in June and August of 2008.
Dave Taylor will direct all 6 camps in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Taylor is the Adidas All-American Camp Director for upperclassmen and underclassmen and a former Division I Men’s College Basketball Coach. In addition to working with Taylor and his staff all players will also receive a full Adidas Phenom uniform, compete in two games per day, be eligible for the camp’s all-star game, and receive exposure from the likes of the New England Recruiting Report, Rivals, and Generation Next Basketball to name a few.
“This camp will be an unbelievable experience for all rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders,” said Regional Camp Director Jay Riccitelli, who has coached at the National Adidas Phenom 150 Camp the last two summers. “I am a believer in the Adidas Phenom Camps. They have a little bit of everything – great regional exposure, experienced coaches, and skill instruction from Coach Taylor who does a great job of working with the players.”
Riccitelli also highlights Taylor’s ability to motivate campers during his energetic camp lectures. “He [Taylor] has messages in all of his stories that really hit home with the players.”
