Abu, Okonoboh Join New England Alums

Official rosters were announced on Monday night for both the Nike Point Guard Skills Academy and the Nike Big Man Skills Academy.

Kimball Union Academy’s Abdul-Malik Abu and Wilbraham & Monson’s Goodluck Okonoboh are both in attendance as expected.  Former Redemption Christian big man is also in attendance.  Fairfield Prep center Paschal Chukwu was also reportedly invited but unable to attend.

The Big Man Academy is especially selective with only 16 high school prospects from around the country in attendance.

In addition to hosting the top high school prospects in the country, the skills academies also host the top college players at that respective position as counselors.

UConn guards Ryan Boatwright and Shabazz Napier are both in attendance at the Point Guard Academy as are New Hampton alum and Boston College’s Olivier Hanlan and Brewster Academy alum Semaj Christon.

New Hampton alum and incoming Indiana freshman Noah Vonleh is among the counselors at the Big Man Academy along with Notre Dame Prep alum and UNLV big man Khem Birch, Brewster Academy alum and Michigan big man Mitch McGary, Brewster Academy alum and St. John’s forward Jakarr Sampson, and Boston College forward Ryan Anderson.

The Skills Academies got underway on Monday afternoon and will continue through the day on Wednesday.
