8th STM Player Earns Scholarship

St. Thomas More post-graduate forward Travis Tomer accepted a full athletic scholarship from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a division II school that has won 22 or more games and advanced to the NCAA tournament in each of the last five seasons.

Tomer accounced his decision via his twitter account late last week:

Prior to arriving at St. Thomas More, Tomer previously starred at Morgantown High School, where he earned all-state honors in West Virginia.

A versatile six-foot-five forward who combines athleticism, skill, and toughness, Tomer was just returning from some minor injuries during the recent National Prep Showcase but had earned a wide variety of interest from division I and II programs following his fall open gym season.

He becomes the 8th STM product to earn a scholarship so far this season joining Eric Paschall (Fordham), Calvin Crawford (Manhattan), Francis Kiapway (Ball State), Cane Broome (Sacred Heart), Mike Wells (Albany), Josh Williams (Rider), and Scott Toresco (Southern New Hampshire).

Tomer’s commitment caps a big week for the Chancellors, who scored consecutive conference wins over New Hampton and Brewster on Wednesday and Saturday respectively to improve to 5-1 on the season.
