3pt Foundation Promotes Coach4ADay
The3pointfoundation is a Non-Profit (Fed Id#80-0793305) led by Rivers' boys basketball coach Andrew Mirken that teaches and mentors urban boys to prepare them for success in academics and life. They concentrate on reading, writing, mathematics and character development for underserved youth who have demonstrated commitment, discipline and enthusiasm by playing in organized basketball programs.
One of their many vehicles in this endeavor is Coach4ADay, a program which partners with various college programs to auction off the opportunity to be an assistant coach for the day. All proceeds of the auction go to help in the fight against illiteracy.
The program relies on partnership with collegiate and professional sports teams and has thus far worked with the likes of Northeastern, Stonehill, Brandeis, Harvard, Boston College, Boston University, Holy Cross, and UMass.
