2025 Frosh/Soph #E75 - Best of the Bigs

The annual Frosh/Soph Elite 75 weekend concluded yesterday with two stops: Stoughton Massachusetts, and Hamden Connecticut.

Over the weekend, we had a chance to get an eye on over 300 aspiring college basketball players from every state in New England, bringing a ton of talent into one place.

As we move forward, we will continue to recap the prospects who filed into Dana Barros and Hamden Hall over the weekend, but for now, we will start with the bigs/centers we had eyes on.

This group was particularly impressive, with players 6'8" and up, some that brought more versatility or physicality than others, but most that will be coveted players moving forward.

Franklin Okeke, MSC - The Nigerian native made a resounding debut at the Elite 75 yesterday, showing off the impressive blend of athleticism and size he brings to the floor. At 6'11, Okeke is a big body on the court, but he has some ability to score a bit off the bounce, and a lot of upside to impact the game farther from the paint. As the tallest player on an up-and-coming Mount Saint Charles team, Okeke is sure to make noise moving forward out of Rhode Island.

Ayual Ayual, Holland Tech - The rising freshman catches the eye immediately since he stands at a towering 6’10. The upside Ayual has was evident, however, as he showed off his fluid strides, had glimpses of shooting potential, and made an impact in the paint. Working on catching entry passes and touch inside will unlock a new level of his game moving forward.

Xavier McCall, Macduffie - Coming from a talented basketball family based in Amherst Massachusetts, McCall is set to join Macduffie this year in the class of 2029. His potential is one to watch in the coming years as he’s already punishing defenders at the rim for dunks, and serving as a stout rim protector with strength and physicality.

Ben Lee, Dexter Southfield - Incoming from Burlington (MA), Lee has shown some game away from the basket as he contributes as a shooting threat from the perimeter, a coveted asset in a 6'9 prospect. With some versatility to his game, he projects as more of a forward down the line, and will be a name to watch under Coach Droney.

Eric Figueroa, Brooks - Another big man with versatility in his arsenal, Figueroa is competent as a shooter from outside, thriving in pick-and-pops. His ability to haul in rebounds and score off the bounce at his size will be worth watching moving forward at a thriving Brooks program.

Lincoln Malcore, Kent’s Hill - Returning for a second run in the Frosh/Soph Elite 75, the Wilton Maine native had people talking. Standing around 6’8, Malcore brings athleticism and length to thrive above the rim, and the makings to be another notable name out of the northern-most state very soon as he continues to grow into his frame.

Akmalkhan Aubakirov, Frederick Gunn - Moving to the States from the European Country of Georgia, the 6'11 big man has notable upside as a rim-runner. Aubakirov has a solid foundation of post moves to build off of, with playmaking in his toolbelt, and he really plays with a motor.

Maxxwell Thorpe, NMH - Entering his second season at NMH, Thorpe is primed for a larger role in the frontcourt under Mike Shelton. The 6'9 big man makes a big impact doing the things everyone asks for at the five spot: rebounding the ball, scoring in the post, and making an effort to contest the shots that come his way.

Jamison Greenfield, Windsor - A 6'8" big man out of one of the winningest public schools in the entire region, Greenfield has the physical tools, and will continue to develop as time passes. He used his length and size well in his outing to contest shots, and set screens, while his ability to score inside will be one to monitor as he progresses.
