2016 Rankings Announced

Rankings have been updated in the class of 2016 including an expanded top 100 for all of New England as well as separate rankings for the region’s six states.

The top ten falls in line with what we saw last week in the updated ESPN 100 as Wilbraham & Monson forward and Kentucky commit Wenyen Gabriel takes over as the top ranked prospect in New England, followed closely by St. Thomas More big man and Villanova pledge Omari Spellman.

Sacred Heart’s Mustapha Heron and Vermont Academy’s Bruce Brown, pledged to Auburn and Miami respectively, remain neck-and-neck for the title of New England’s top guard while South Kent’s Matthew Moyer (Syracuse) and Myles Powell (Seton Hall) check in at five and six.

The rest of the top ten consists of: Brewster Academy forward Taurean Thompson, who is still uncommitted; Putnam Science Academy big man and UConn pledge Mamadou Diarra; Vermont Academy big man and Xavier commit Tyrique Jones; and Brewster Academy’s unsigned swingman Alpha Diallo.

Gabriel, Spellman, Brown and Thompson all earned the top spot in their respective states while Lee Academy forward and recent Arizona State commit Vitaliy Shibel claims that title in Maine and St. Andrew’s unsigned big man Terrell Brown maintains that spot in Rhode Island.

Updated rankings come after making our fall prep tour, taking in various fall events and observing the first half of the prep school and high school seasons. While rankings now include first year prep products for the first time, there are also a number of local products who have taken their game to new levels.
