He also tweeted, "I didn’t think a feeling could surpass telling my mother i received a scholarship until the feeling i felt when i told her I’m committing. Making my mother proud is really all i ever wanted to do."
Wilcox earned multiple full athletic scholarship offers after his summer with Rhode Island Elite. He also recently scored his 1,000th career point at the high school level and is averaging over 25 points per game this season.
"I'm very proud of him for picking the best fit for him and his family for the next four years," RI Elite director Nick Light said. "This is a combination of years of hard work in the classroom and on the court and everyone at RI Elite couldn't be more proud of him."
Wilcox is a long and athletic wing who can also make shots from the perimeter. He was a key piece of the RI Elite team that took the championship at the Northeast Hoops Festival last year and also made a run to the semifinals of the Memorial Day Super 16 Showcase.
