Whipple, Mukasa Latest to Prep
One of the most productive freshmen in the MIAA will be changing zip codes next year as Calvin Whipple will be leaving Lunenburg High School and transferring to Northfield Mount Hermon for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Whipple is expected to reclassify back to the class of 2018 according to his father.
The news was first reported earlier this week by ESPN Boston's Christian Bradley.
The six-foot-three guard averaged 17 points per game in his first season in the high school ranks, including a couple 30+ performances. He also had several huge rebounding totals on the season as he quickly established himself as a versatile young star for Lunenburg.
He'll be joining an NMH squad that returns the vast majority of their line-up from a team that advanced to the semi-finals of both the NEPSAC AAA tournament and the National Prep Championship.
Mukasa Doing Post-Grad Year at St. Andrew's
In other prep school related news, Sharon High School guard Brian Mukasa will do a post-graudate year at St. Andrew's School following his graduation this June.
The news was first reported by Hoopville's Phil Kasiecki.
Mukasa had a strong career at Sharon, scoring over 1,000 points while also helping to lead the squad to the Division II South Sectional Final in his senior season.
St. Andrew's graduates nine players who saw consistent rotation minutes this season for head coach Michael Hart, and so there should be an opportunity for Mukasa to make immediate contributions.
