Walker Commits to North Alabama
Last weekend, Loomis-Chaffee School/Team New England HGSL 6’6” lefty wing Kingston “King” Walker announced his commitment to North Alabama. The decision came despite also receiving offers from Fairfield, Toledo, UMass, Albany, Bryant, Gardner-Webb, and Manhattan.
Walker has been in New England for some time now, as our scouts noted his game all the way back in 2021 while competing with NE6. His fluidity and productivity at a young age already showed a lot of upside. He was already competing at the NEPSAC Class-A level early in his high school career.
He really jumped onto the radar during the spring/summer of 2022, as he competed with Expressions Elite on the EYBL Circuit. After his performance with Loomis at the NEPSAC Showcase, he was added to Adam Finkelstein’s list of ascending names from the event.
His success continued into the following school season with Loomis-Chaffee, as he ultimately earned All-Founders League Honorable Mention for his performance throughout the year.
Walker was still far from finished making his game known, turning more heads throughout the spring/summer of 2023. Our scouts once again noted his game at the NEPSAC Showcase highlighting his bounce, handles, and court vision.
He proved his dominance on the national stage with Team New England on the HGSL Circuit, earning numerous standout recognitions, and ultimately helping TNE bring home an HGSL Championship to finish out the 2023 grassroots season.
He got right back to it this past season with Loomis-Chaffee as a senior, as he was named to the ZG Prep Classic All-Academic Team for his performance at the event in December.
He found many different ways to make his presence known on a regular basis, grabbing a team-high 8 rebounds in a 1-point victory over reigning Class-A champs Milton Academy at the HoopHall Prep Showcase.
Ultimately, he once again earned All-Founders League Honorable Mention, this time also adding All-NEPSAC Class-A Honorable Mention to his resume.
As fun as it was to see him grow over the past few years with the Pelicans of Loomis-Chaffee School, it will be exciting to see King Walker compete in the ASUN Conference at the Division I level with the North Alabama Lions of Florence, AL.
