Vermont Gets Commitment

Sandro Carissimo a six-foot-two combo-guard from Iona Prep in New York committed to Vermont on Wednesday, joining his high school teammate Brian Voelkel in the Catamounts’ 2010 recruiting class.

Carissimo is a versatile player who can play both backcourt positions, has a tight handle and good floor game, and makes shots from the perimeter.  He ran with the New York Gauchos on the summer travel circuit.

Carissimo was also generating interest from Albany, Brown, Davidson, Harvard, Holy Cross, and St. Francis New York according to Scout.com.  He is expected to sign with Vermont before the conclusion of the early signing period.
