URI Lands Scoring Guard

URI landed their latest commitment earlier this week when Xavier Munford, a six-foot-two guard from Iowa Western Community College who played under Hurley during his high school days at St. Benedict's.

“Xavier is an athletic guard who is both a scorer and a lockdown defender,” said Hurley.  “I have some familiarity with Xavier from our time at St. Benedict’s and he has developed into an outside shooting threat over his past two seasons at the junior college level.”

Munford averaged 16.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists this year while shooting 37% from the three-point line and having five games in which he made five or more three-pointers.

Munford becomes the fourth player to commit to Hurley since taking over at Rhody, joining transfers Jarelle Reischel and Gilvydas Biruta, along with Jordan Hare, who previously committed under former head coach Jim Baron.
