URI Gets a Steal
The University of Rhode Island scored a huge commitment on Wednesday when Jordan Hare (Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill) turned down high-major suitors to play for coach Jim Baron in the Atlantic 10.
Hare held other offers from high-major programs including Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, and others but it was a long standing relationship with URI assistant coach Preston Murphy that helped the Rams stay in the hunt and get the commitment.
Murphy grew up in Saginaw and has longstanding relationships with Hare’s brother, Wilbert, as well as Hare's high school coach, Greg McMath.
URI has been actively recruiting Hare for over a year now and first hosted him last December for the Rams game against Boston College.
Hare returned this past weekend’s for "Rhody Madness" and made his decision less than 72 hours after leaving the campus.
