URI Adds Another Transfer
Rhode Island head coach Danny Hurley continues to strike the transfer market in order to rebuild Rhody's talent base. The most recent prospect to commit to Hurley is DeShon Minnis, a six-foot-three lead guard who spent his freshman season at Texas Tech.
The commitment was first reportted by SNY's Adam Zagoria.
Minnis is a big lead guard who played his high school basketball in New Jersey at Atlantic Christian High School. He averaged 2.8 points and 1.4 assists last year in the Big 12 but is the type of playmaking guard who can create scoring opportunities for himself and others while playing on or off the ball.
He becomes the fifth player to commit to Hurley joining two frontcourt prospects out of the high school ranks in Mike Aaman and Jordan Hare, junior college guard Xavier Munford, and transfers Jarelle Reischel (Rice) and Gilvydas Biruta (Rutgers).
