Unsigned Senior Spotlight - Mark Heber
Mark Heber is a post-graduate guard at Woodstock Academy.
The New Jersey native graduated from Paterson Kennedy High School last year, where he put up big numbers and established himself as a scholarship prospect.
Like many unsigned seniors, Heber was robbed of the final exposure opportunities of his senior year and thus opted to pursue the post-graduate route.
Unfortunately, as the pandemic has raged on, it has continued to prevent college coaches from being on the road and players like Heber from getting the looks they deserve. He nonetheless has still had interest from Loyola Marymount, Air Force, Cornell, and Colorado Christian at various stages of the process but is still open in his recruitment.

Personal Statement
I’m a student athlete who works hard on and off the court. I'm very passionate about basketball and have the will to prepare to win. I'm a team player and like getting my teammates involved. It's always team first. I like guarding the best player on the court and believe good defense turns into good offense. I am a very skilled two-way guard with a high basketball I.Q. I can read well off the pick-and-roll and have the ability to create my own shot and create open shots for my teammates.
Recommendations
“Athletically, Mark is gifted, but he also holds the ability to stretch the defense beyond the average college freshman. In addition to his athleticism, he's probably one of the most poised and humble people you could be around. He's committed both academically and athletically.”
- Jacque Rivera, Head Coach, Woodstock Academy
“Mark is intelligent, energetic, motivated, and genuinely well rounded...Throughout his years as a basketball member, Mark has shown himself to be a capable and committed leader. His positive attitude and professional demeanor have motivated the other members of the team to strive for the highest standards. He has taken initiative on many occasions to reach out to students in need of individual attention, often working one-on-one with these students during their regular class instruction. Mark's ability to lead by example and encourage his classmates has made him an invaluable asset to our school.”
- Tommie Patterson, Head Coach, Paterson Kennedy
Scout's Take
Heber is a scholarship caliber talent. He's highly skilled and still has plenty of upside in front of him as he continues to fill-out his frame. His shooting stroke may be his best asset. He has clean mechanics and an extremely soft natural touch with deep range. He's not one-dimensional though and can score with both floaters and pull-ups in the mid-range area. He's a solid ball-handler and good decision-maker. In a normal year, he'd likely already be off the board, so he holds good value and untapped potential for any school able to land him late.
