Unsigned Senior Spotlight – Justice Carter

Justice Carter made a big impression in his first season at his local high school last season, earning All-CCC honors while putting up big numbers for New Britain.

Expectations were high heading into the spring and summer, but like so many others, Carter has now been robbed of the opportunities to show coaches what he can do.

His New Haven Heat squad played some this summer, but of course with no college coaches permitted to be in attendance. Similarly, his senior season at New Britain is now in jeapardy.

If they're able to get back on the court, there's no doubt Carter will have a big season and show a rare combination of skill, temperment, and basketball I.Q. that makes him a very clear college prospect.

Personal Statement

“I am the ideal player for a college coach. I know the game and know how to play the game. I am a pass-first type point guard with the ability to score and find my teammates at the right times. I love getting my teammates involved.”

Recommendation

“Last year, Justice joined the NBHS Basketball after spending his sophomore at Sacred Heart. Justice, originally a NB kid, came back to his hometown high school. Justice is everything you want in a point guard. Justice can use his handle in certain situations when needed, shoot the 3 and find the open man at the right time. Justice knows the game and makes it easy for me because he is already thinking about the next play. He is a high character kid and would great addition to a college program.”

Scout’s Take

Carter is a skilled and heady point guard. He plays with poise, doesn't get sped up, and is a smart passer, both in transition and half-court settings. He shoots it very well from behind the three-point line with clean mechanics and a fluid release, both off the catch and the dribble, which allows him to slide off the ball effectively at times as well. He has a complimenting pull-up game in the mid-range area that he can get to. Physically, he's strong with a compact build that allows him to take a bump while he can also navigate a crowded lane with poise. He has a good temperment for the position with the basketball I.Q. to match.
