Unsigned Senior Spotlight - Daniel Becil
Worcester Academy senior guard Dan Becil is playing the best basketball of his career right now. It actually started last winter, but because of the pandemic, coaches weren't able to see it first-hand.
Now though, after a strong summer with House We Built, Becil is again putting up big numbers and helping Worcester to their latest succesful season in Class AA of the NEPSAC, and scholarship coaches are taking notice.
He came into the season with numerous division III schools hoping to get a steal, but has since added full offers from both Mercyhurst and Bentley.

Personal Statement
Hard work, discipline and commitment to learn and improve define me as a player and teammate. I am an efficient 3pt shooter and scorer. My strengths are shooting and slashing. I can play the 4 when needed. I am able to run the offense as well. I make adjustments for myself and my teammates, whatever is needed to win. I can work in any coach's system to help him and my team win.
I love to watch film. This has helped boost my IQ and my ability to read defenses. I am a very good off-ball defender and play solid man-to-man defense, I see the court well, read passing lanes and will always make the extra pass.
My coaches at Worcester Academy have helped me become a vocal leader on and off the court, and a mentor to underclassmen. I value the respect I have earned from my coaches, my teammates and opposing coaches. I am thankful for all who have and continue to help me improve.
Recommendations
"Dan came to us as a sophomore and immediately made his presence known. He works extremely hard everyday in practice and on his own. He is a model for his younger teammates for the fact that he never takes a rep off in practice. His work ethic is one of the best I’ve seen in my 25 years of coaching. Dan possesses a high IQ for the game as well is one of the toughest most durable players we have. His hard work & shooting prowess has earned him the green light on a team with several underclassmen getting recruited at the highest level."
- Jamie Sullivan, Head Coach, Worcester Academy
"Dan is a deadly sniper who started the winter shooting 45% from deep; he also has the ability to get into the lane and hit the pull-up and finish around the rim. On defense, he's a tough heady player who makes impact plays - whether it is taking a charge or defending the drive. Dan also possesses a relentless work ethic and is an absolute gym rat."
- Al Chen, Direct, House We Built
"Dan Becil has consistently stood out as a passionate, smart, and charismatic leader. He will dramatically improved the culture of your team. His fearlessness and ability to step outside of his comfort zone to make others around him better is uniquely inspiring. He takes great pride in pushing himself to be the best! Dan's dedication and compassion to help others has been amazing to witness as both a mentor and a coach. I can truly say that any university/team would be lucky to have a young man who gives his best and applies himself daily. His work ethic and ability to influence his peers in positive ways is truly commendable. Daniel's growth as a leader and his involvement with his teammates is contagious and people are drawn to him like a magnet. Put simply, he is a winner, a leader, and a no brainer for your program."

Scout's Take
"Becil has shown a ton of growth over the course of the last three years. As an underclassman, whether it was with Worcester or with the New York Jayhawks, his toughness and work-ethic were his best assets. Since then, he's maintained those qualities while simultaneously expanded his game. Last year, in the shortened season, he slid over and proved he could play some point guard. This year, he's showing what a vastly improved shooter he is and that he's capable of carrying his team offensively. In short, he's one of those guys that just adds new elements to his game with each passing year."
