Unsigned Senior Showcase - Denzel Correia

Denzel Correia is an unsigned senior from the Rocky Hill School in Rhode Island who played his grassroots basketball with Team New England.

He led the team in both scoring and rebounding last year as a junior and followed that up with a strong spring and summer, playing his way into the the Rhode Island state rankings as a result.

Even still, Correia's best basketball is very clearly far in front of him. He's long and smooth with positional versatility and still a ton of untapped potential.

On the recruiting trail, he's attracted interest from all three levels of college basketball, but remains totally open in his process.

By the Numbers

Academics: 3.25 GPA (honor roll student)
2020-21 Stats: 16ppp, 6rpg, & 3apg

Personal Statement

I'm a hardworking, humble kid who loves to make those around me better, on and off the court. To go into my game, I'm a good, consistent shooter as well as a shifty playmaker. I lean on my basketball IQ to help me make the right decision. I like to lead by example and play both of ends of the floor well. With the help of my 6'3" frame and 6'6" wingspan, I'm able to disrupt players on ball and the passing lanes. Going on to the next level and playing college basketball has always been a dream of mine. With my abilities, talents, and work ethic on and off the court, I believe I can achieve this goal. I believe in myself and been told by many recruiters and coaches I have what it takes to play division 1 basketball.

This young man is humble, hard working and wants to be coached. He once scored 70 points in a single game while hitting twenty 3-point shots. Denzel has smooth handles as he can move confidently to his left or to his right. He has tremendous court vision and is strong enough to drive the lane to score or distribute the ball. He has extremely quick feet and can flip his hips defensively. His hard work ethic and humility allow him to be a team leader and a team player. Denzel works just as hard when to ball is not in his hands. Defensively, he is hard nosed and intuitive. He simply understands how to make plays. He currently has a 3.25 GPA and will be taking the SAT soon. Please take the time to evaluate this young man as he is worth your eyes! "

"What makes Denzi unique, in my opinion, is when he steps on the floor, he demands attention! He’s very long, athletic and can score at all three levels. Because of his length, he can see the floor really well AND can be a NIGHTMARE defensively! He’s never backed down from a challenge! Whoever grabs him will be getting a mature combo guard!"
- Yorel Hawkins, NCAA Trainer

"Denzel is a dynamic court general who can read a defense and create opportunities for himself and his teammates.  He is a passionate teammate who is first-in and last-out of the gym.  He hustles on defense and can score from all three levels."
- Megan Williams, Director of Athletic and Physical Education, Rocky Hill Country Day School
