UMass Lowell Scores a Weekend Pair

UMass Lowell landed two commitments this weekend that should help to perpetuate their winning ways as Kennedy Chukwuocha and Carlos Taylor pledged to head coach Greg Herenda.

Chukwuocha is a six-foot-six power forward from Medford Tech in New Jersey.  A high level athlete who blocks shots and has a rapidly emerging offensive skill set, Chukwuocha ran with the PA Playaz this summer on the grassroots circuit.

Taylor is a six-foot-three swingman from Boys Latin High School in Philadelphia, who played at an equally competitive level this summer with Team Philly.  Taylor is a good athlete but makes a niche for himself with his shot-making prowess from the perimeter.

UMass Lowell has won at least 20 games in each of the last three seasons while making three consecutive appearances in the NCAA tournament.  They are beginning the 2011-2012 season as the 10th best division II team in the country according to Sporting News Magazine’s pre-season poll.
