Two Local Talents Reclassifying at Prep School
Gerard Coleman, who this year thrived at West Roxbury High School in Massachusetts, will transfer to the Tilton School and reclassify to the class of 2010. For Tilton this is clearly a case of the rich getting richer as Coleman will be joining two of his BABC teammates, Alex Oriakhi and Jamal Coombs, who led Tilton to the Class B NEPSAC title this year.
For Coleman, this move should be the latest boost to his recruiting stock. He was already one of the region’s hottest players in the class of 2009, after outstanding performances at the Boo Williams Invitational and the King James Classic. But when compared to other players in the class of 2010 he has to be considered not only among New England’s best but a probable selection to most national top 100 lists.
Corey Wright Jr. arrived at Marianapolis Prep last fall from St. Raphael’s Academy in Rhode Island. At the time the talented point guard opted not to reclassify, although he now plans to do so. He will undoubtedly be one of the top point guards in the class of 2010.
Wright had a great impact in his first season at Marianapolis as the point guard was, in all likelihood, his team’s most consistent playmaker. His presence was a big reason behind Marianapolis’ repeat trip to the finals of NEPSAC Class B tournament.
