Transfer Profile: Maxx Tjongondjoza
On July 3rd, 6’8” class of 2028 forward, Maxx Tjongondjoza, announced he would be transferring from Long Island Lutheran High School to Brewster Academy.
Maxx spent his freshman year on a loaded LUHI basketball team, who were ranked second in the state of New York, and remained high up in national rankings the entire season.
While playing for a high-caliber LUHI team, Tjongondjoza also plays for the PSA Cardinals on the EYBL circuit. Most notably, last summer playing on Great Britain's U16 Eurobasket squad, where he put together multiple great performances.
Hailing from Brighton, United Kingdom, the 6’8” forward has a lot of upside on his frame alone, with obvious height and a reported 6’10” wingspan. His guard skills and ability built into a forward’s frame make him an intriguing prospect. His 2025 Summer with the GBR U16 Eurobasket team was phenomenal, averaging 14.7 points, 6 rebounds and 1.1 assists, along with a steal and a block per game. This included an explosive 31-point performance against North Macedonia.
Maxx is a great athlete who can play above the rim, and his size only complements this attribute. He’s a versatile player who can finish through contact, while offering a level of finesse and smooth finishing.
What’s most impressive, though, is his confidence and ability to space the floor with his outside shooting. He’s a very comfortable shooter on the catch, which stretches the floor for himself to create, and gives him options on how he wants to attack his defender. This outside shooting paired with his finishing around the rim is already a dangerous combination for someone his size.
Tjongondjoza is also able to work the mid to low post, in which he can create for himself with a turnaround hooks or jumpers, or work around to get under the rim. In totality, he can score at 3 levels, at each in a different form, which makes him an intriguing prospect.
With a few more years to grow and fill out into his frame, his upside is notable. He is joining new Head Coach Luke Rosinski and looks to slot in and make a major impact for a historic Brewster Program. Look to Tjongondjoza to make a leap in the near future, as he has all of the tools to do so.
