Tim Abromaitis Commits to Notre Dame
The recruiting process of Tim Abromaitis has finally come to a close. Abromaitis may have had more scholarship offers than any other public school player in New England this year. Last year during his junior season he was already receiving a large amount of interest from a wide range of division I programs and after a very successful summer playing with Connecticut Gold that interest only intensified.
Abromaitis first gained national attention this summer with his play at the Hoop Group’s Triple S Harley Davidson Jam Fest in West Virginia with his combination of size, intelligence, and outside shooting. Connecticut Gold rounded out the summer at the AAU National Championships in Orlando where Abromaitis went for consecutive forty point games. By that point Abromaitis, who has always maintained that the academics would be a major priority in his decision making process, had his choice of schools in the Ivy, Patriot, America East, and NEC with other interest coming from schools in the Colonial, Conference USA, Atlantic Ten, Big Ten, and others. As of a few weeks ago he had narrowed his list to five finalists in Yale, Penn, Princeton, Williams and Mary, and Northwestern. But when a terrific academic school in arguably the best conference in the country came knocking Abromaitis was compelled to listen.
At Notre Dame, Abromaitis will play for Head Coach Mike Brey who has led the Fighting Irish to six consecutive winning seasons in his first six seasons at the helm of the program. Last season Notre Dame finished 16-14 overall and 6-10 in the Big East, before advancing to the second round of the NIT.
This year, Abromaitis will be the anchor of a Farmington High School team that is hoping to contend in both the talented Northwest Conference and the entire State of Connecticut.
