Thomas Robinson to the Champs
Last year’s NCAA championship came down to Kansas and Memphis. This month Bill Self and John Calipari again found themselves going head to head…this time for the services of Brewster Academy forward Thomas Robinson.
Ultimately, the result wasn’t any different than last April’s championship game…Kansas got the victory.
Robinson, who had previously narrowed his list down to five schools, visited Kansas late in September and Memphis last weekend. Self and Calipari had also visited Thomas and his family in their Washington D.C. home according to Adam Zagoria.
“I will help them [Kansas] any way I can,” Robinson told Zagoria. “I’m going to rebound. I’m going to play hard.”
And you can bet that is just what Bill Self and his staff are expecting as Thomas has developed the reputation as one of the nation’s hardest working and most active big men, especially in regards to his work on the glass.
Thomas exploded onto the national scene last spring when he shined with his Squash All Beef AAU team. Seemingly overnight, he went from a player who many had never heard of to one of the most widely recruited big men in the country.
Now Thomas is headed to Kansas. But before he gets there, he will attempt to help another defending champion to a repeat performance. Thomas and his Brewster Academy teammates will open their season in just a few short weeks as they look to capture consecutive Class A titles.
