This Week’s Recruiting News & Notes
While the recruiting news tends to slow down little by little in the weeks that follow the July evaluation period, there was still plenty of action this week. Here is a look at some of the headlines:
• Kimball Union Academy and Expressions Elite 2014 forward Abdul-Malik Abu visited three of his final four schools this week. After attending the Providence Elite Camp on Saturday, Abu took an unofficial visit to North Carolina State on Sunday. He was initially scheduled to visit Connecticut on Wednesday, but ultimately rescheduled in order to travel to Florida. No word yet on if, or when, he will now visit Connecticut;
• Cushing Academy and Mass Rivals 2014 point guard Kaleb Joseph was also in attendance at Providence’s Elite Camp last weekend. He’ll take his first official visit this weekend, when he travels to Syracuse from Friday to Sunday. Joseph had previously cut his list to just three schools in Providence, Syracuse, and West Virginia;
• BABC and St. Andrew’s 2014 forward Bonzie Colson picked up his latest scholarship offer from Xavier, only a few days after adding Loyola Marymount. Colson holds numerous high-major offers at this point including Florida State, Iowa State, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, and Seton Hall;
• BABC and Tilton 2015 guard Terance Mann took unofficial visits to Georgetown, VCU, and George Washington last week. He now holds offers from all three schools in addition to Florida, Rhode Island, Boston College, Iowa State, and Miami;
• Cushing Academy and Mass Rivals 2015 guard Jalen Adams has added recent offers from Creighton and Georgia Tech this week, after being offered by Minnesota last week. He held previous offers from Connecticut, Providence, Rhode Island, and Kansas State;
• Rhode Island Hawks and Northfield Mount Hermon 2014 center Sem Kroon visited William and Mary and Elon within the last week, while also adding a scholarship offer from Albany. Kroon has additional offers from every school in the Ivy League and several Patriot League schools;
• New England Playaz and Cheshire Academy 2016 guard Tyree Weston took an unofficial visit to Boston University on Thursday, where he picked up the first division I scholarship offer of his career;
• Rhode Island Hawks and Northfield Mount Hermon 2016 forward A.J. Brodeur picked up his first division I scholarship offer from Holy Cross earlier this week. He reported additional interest from Boston College, Northeaster, Quinnipiac, Vermont, Brown, and Yale;
• Rhode Island Hawks and Northfield Mount Hermon 2015 center Collin McManus took unofficial visits to Northeastern and New Hampshire, and reportedly picked up a scholarship offer from the Wildcats before leaving his local state university. McManus also holds wide-ranging Ivy and Patriot interest.
