This Weeks Notable Performances
D.J. Campbell – Winooski HS (VT): The senior swingman was at his best early in the week as he knocked down 7 three-pointers and scored a total of 39 points as his Winooski team blasted Craftsbury 87-48.
Joe O’Shea – Burlington HS (VT): He had a school record 45 points, including 10 three-pointers in an 87-64 victory over Mt. Anthony. Saturday (tomorrow) will be a huge showdown as O’Shea will lead Burlington against Rice putting the state’s number one ranked team against the defending state champs.
Nick Meunier – Rice HS (VT): The athletic forward had a huge outing in his team’s 79-63 victory over Brattleboro as he finished with 24 points 10 rebounds. He and Jon Goldberg lead Rice into the much anticipated showdown with Burlington.
Justin Wilson – Windsor HS (CT): The senior scored 26 points including 4 three-pointers as Windsor defeated Hope 89-67 in Rhode Island.
Marcus James – Wilby HS (CT): James scored 30 points to lead his team to a big victory on the road against Torrington. Wilby has now won five in a row after falling to Sacred Heart on opening night.
John Pinone – Glastonbury HS (CT): The interior force opened the game by showing his shooting range as he knocked down two early three pointers. He finished with 22 points as Glastonbury scored an upset victory over Hartford Public 63-44.
Jordan Williams – Torrington HS (CT): Jordan Williams continues to dominate the NVL as he dropped 35 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Torrington to a road victory at Naugatuck.
Cornelius Brown – Harding HS (CT): He has been instrumental in leading Harding to a 5-0 start to what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. He scored 23 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and handed out 7 assists in a 105-37 victory over New Mission High School of Massachusetts.
Julian Colarusso & Branden Monteiro – Catholic Memorial (MA): One of Massachusetts’ best teams came to Connecticut and knocked off two of the state’s best as they defeated Trinity Catholic and St. Joseph’s to win their four team holiday tournament. Monteiro scored 12 points in the fourth quarter of the championship game to lead his team to the victory while Colurusso had 22 points in the game and was named the tournament MVP.
Danny O’Keefe – Lexington HS (MA): At the final day of the BABC Holiday Classic O’Keefe scored 32 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Lexington easily handled Springfield Cathedral 66-37.
Evan Smotrycz – Reading HS (MA): After battling foul trouble all night long the talented forward had only 6 points going into the fourth quarter. But that didn’t stop him from exploding in the fourth as he scored 18 points in the final period to lead Reading to a 66-51 win over Burlington.
Ryan Chaney – Morse HS (ME): You have to love high school basketball in Maine. Big snow storm…school is cancelled…the game goes on. So with only 250 fans in attendance 6’6” junior Ryan Chaney scored 12 of his team high 23 points in the fourth quarter to lead Morse over Cony.
Kirk Crecco – Gilford HS (NH): The Dartmouth bound guard scored 23 points to lead his team over Franklin 67-47. Gilford is off to a 3-0 start to their season.
Michael Laplante – Woonsocket HS (RI): The junior had 24 points, including two three-pointers, to lead Woonsocket to a 70-53 victory over Cumberland on Wednesday night.
Aaron Sabatino – Lincoln HS (RI): He knocked down three three-pointers and finished with a game high 26 points to lead Lincoln to a 58-51 victory over North Providence.
