The Upside Podcast explores the Tulsa Race Massacre

In the 5th installment of our series exploring racial issues The Upside looks at the history of one of the nation's most heinous acts of terrorism - the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921.

Tulsa was home to one of the most prosperous African American communities in the country. Nicknamed, ‘Black Wall Street’, hundreds of black business owners and families flourished.

That all came crashing down as the result of an alleged sexual assault in an elevator leading to 3 days of horrific violence and the massacre of more than 300 African Americans.

Today, we get the full account of this event from Phil Armstrong, Project Director of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission.
