Taylor Earns MVP at Eastern Invitational
Like many other young players, Zach Taylor has been very busy this month. He played well at Hoop Mountain’s Super Week II and from there headed to the College of New Jersey for session III of the Eastern Invitational from July 11th – 14th.
Despite playing in the camp’s top league, with players two and three years his senior, Taylor was one of the week’s most productive players as his quick first step and good handle allowed him to create for himself and his teammates, which eventually earned him a spot on the all-star team.
But Taylor saved his best performance for last as he scored 17 points while handing out 11 assists, including a variety of no look passes, to lead his team to a 15 point victory in the all-star game. Taylor went on to earn the game’s Most Valuable Player Award.
Taylor will return to St. Luke’s (New Canaan, CT) next year where he will have a vastly increased role after the team lost Zach Dugas, Devin Hill, and Kabeya kabongo to graduation. Taylor will need to have a big season if St. Luke’s has any hope of returning to the NEPSAC Class D Championship Game for the fourth consecutive year.
