Taqqee A-10 Bound
Cushing Academy senior swingman Idris Taqqee made a verbal commitment to St. Bonaventure on Sunday afternoon.
Taqqee was coming off a successful grassroots and EYBL season with Expressions Elite, emerging as a critical part of their rotation thanks to his versatility.
One thing that Taqqee does as well as almost anyone in New England is defend the perimeter. With long arms and good instincts, he’s capable of checking any of the three perimeter positions, and also a good perimeter rebounder.
While his individual offense, and specifically his shooting range, had improved in recent months, he differentiated himself from other swingmen with the maturity and unselfishness to accept a complimentary role on the offensive end, but proving himself invaluable defensively.
Taqqee becomes the second Cushing Academy product to commit in as many weeks following Kaleb Joseph’s pledge to Syracuse last week. Joseph, Taqqee, and Jalen Adams return to form the core of a Penguin team that will be looking to defend their NEPSAC AA title this season.
Taqqee is the first player to commit to St. Bonaventure in the 2014 class.
