Super 16 Showcase on Tap for this Weekend
The third annual Memorial Day Super 16 Showcase is returning to Connecticut College and the greater New London area this weekend, and the field is better than ever in all four high school divisions.
New Heights is returning from New York City to defend their title in the 11th grade region, where they’ll have plenty of competition including fellow Adidas sponsored program, the Mass Rivals. CBC will be looking for their 4th championship of the young season while Middlesex Magic will be looking to ride the wave of momentum after last weekend’s Massachusetts AAU District championship. Connecticut Select will be looking to take the final step after their impressive run to the finals of the Northeast Hoops Festival, as will MB Nation and Boston Warriors who advanced to finals at last weekend’s Hall of Fame and Massachusetts AAU tournaments respectively. Maine Athletic Club, United Sons and Daughters, Metro Boston, and numerous others highlight the rest of the New England field while well known programs like LVBR, King Street Kings, Team Jersey Elite, New Jersey Pirates, and Team Price are among the more notable visitors from outside the region.
While the 11th grade division is deep and talented, the 10th grade division is absolutely loaded. New Heights won’t be the only powerhouse program to come from New York City as they’ll be joined by Team Scan. They’ll face the best New England has to offer in the u16 division as the New England Playaz, Mass Rivals, Expressions Elite, and Rhode Island Hawks all seem poised to make big runs. It’s a similar story in the 9th grade division as programs from New England and beyond will be competing for another highly celebrated championship.
